In the wizarding world, this curse can be used to inflict a cold and very runny nose on a target. In the Sorcerer’s Stone, Ron threatens Hermione and Neville with this curse when they are trying to stop him from sneaking out.
For our activity, we are going to make some fake snot with water, gelatin, and corn syrup. Real mucus is mostly water and glycoproteins, which are proteins and sugars. We’ll get protein from the gelatin and sugar from the corn syrup. It’s not the exact same protein and sugar, but our mixture will have the same types of chemicals and will make a very mucusy fake snot.

Here is what to do,
- Gather your supplies:
- water
- gelatin
- corn syrup
- glass cup
- measuring spoons
- Heat the water to boiling and then pour ½ cup into the glass
- Add 3 Tbs of gelatin to the hot water and stir
- Add ¼ cup of corn syrup and stir again.
